BLOCKS by SIZE 8" Quilt Blocks

Eight inch quilt blocks are commonly used in quilts that are made up of one block only and the parts are easily divisible by four. Also, by setting the blocks in different layouts, you can create many different new designs -- sometimes with just a simple rotation of the block. This is not to say that larger or smaller versions of the same quilt block cannot be used in your quilt. Once again, you are the designer.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Green Mountain Star quilt block is a lovely star block which makes for some stunning quilts.

The quilt layout featured below on the left, sets each star block side by side and separates them with different coloured sashing strips for a striking design.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right, uses an on point block setting with large corner triangles attached to each block. The careful colour placement of these additional corner triangles offers a variety of different resultant quilt designs. By using this same method, you can come up with any number of interesting quilts simply by changing up those colour placements.
