BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Goose Tracks quilt block is a perfect choice for a beginner quilter as it contains only squares and half square triangles -- which are the first pieced patches you will learn on your quiltmaking journey.

The two quilt layouts shown below both use common settings of these nine patch blocks. The quilt on the left features blocks set side by side and separated with sashing strips to add some extra colour. Likewise, the quilt layout on the right uses sashing as well, while the on point setting of the blocks allows for those setting triangles along the outer edge of the quilt, for a place to showcase your quilting skills, as well as additional colour.
