BLOCKS by SIZE 16" Quilt Blocks

Larger quilt blocks offer the incentive that there are less to make to produce your quilt. When time is limited, this size of block is your best friend. A second feature is that you can try a more difficult design as the pieces may be many, but the sizes of the patches are easy to work with. A win-win all around.

Good Cheer

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Good Cheer quilt block contains only simple patches -- squares, rectangles and flying geese units. The small squares (the light fabric in the sample block) create a meandering path when you place the many blocks into the quilt.

The quilt layout shown below on the left features blocks set on point with "corner" triangles for each block. This allows for additional colour placement of your choice for these large triangles, to add some extra pizzazz to the quilt. The quilt layout on the right shows blocks set side by side and as a result, the tiny squares lead the eye to the stars in the centre of each block. All sorts of interesting possibilities can be achieved just with the arrangement that you choose for your own quilt layout.
