|BLOCKS by SIZE||9" Quilt Blocks|

The Golden Stairs quilt block might look a bit familiar as it is very similar to the Jacob's Ladder block. The difference is that Golden Stairs has additional "checkerboard" patches in two of the corners.
This quilt block is an easy block to sew as it contains only two simple shapes -- the square and the half square triangle unit (probably the most commonly used quilt patch). This nine patch block is a wonderful choice as a starter block for a beginner quilter.
The sample quilts illustrated show a setting with the blocks "on point" as well as straight set blocks. The latter setting shown rotates each alternate block to produce the final design. By playing around with quilt block rotations, you can create all sorts of interesting designs for your quilt.
