BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Garden Block is a simple nine patch and is perfectly suitable for that first quilt block when you are a beginner quilter. It features half square triangles -- the first pieced patch you will sew.

Both of the sample quilt layouts shown below use an on point setting of the blocks. The differences lie in whether you use sashing strips to separate the blocks and/or additional blank blocks to add extra colour and as a space to showcase your quilting designs.
