Friendly Pleasures

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Friendly Pleasures quilt block is a simple five patch design (so named because it is designed on a 5 x 5 grid).

This easy block is sewn using only squares (although you may look closely and see triangle patches .... hmmmm). The half square triangles that result on the corners of the central patch are made using a simple "sew and flip" method. Many quilters prefer this method rather than using cut triangles for its ease, but there will be a little waste fabric as a result.
**Side note: This central patch with triangle corners is known as a "snowball" block.

The large central patch of this block is shown with a printed fabric design. However, it would be the perfect place for a "fussy cut" fabric motif or a blank patch to be signed by family members for a special event quilt. The sky is the limit for the ideas for this one single patch!
