BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The sample quilt layouts shown below using the Fresh Start block, both use standard settings with very different outcomes.

The quilt layout featured on the left, sets the blocks side by side, but due to the directional nature of the block, uses 90 degree rotations of some of the blocks to produce a subtle, secondary design of large stars. (You might have to look closely to see them.)

The quilt layout illustrated on the right, sets all of the block on point to give an entirely different look. (I see shapes that resemble hanging lanterns. Do you?)
