BLOCKS by SIZE 16" Quilt Blocks

Larger quilt blocks offer the incentive that there are less to make to produce your quilt. When time is limited, this size of block is your best friend. A second feature is that you can try a more difficult design as the pieces may be many, but the sizes of the patches are easy to work with. A win-win all around.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilts layouts shown below both use an on point setting of the blocks, but with very different results.

The quilt layout featured on the left uses additional blank blocks with the background colour, which produces "negative space", and thereby making the blocks pop. The colourful edge treatment using even more scrap fabric gives extra splashes of colour to the resultant quilt.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right increases each block by adding large corner triangles. The variety of colour choices for these large triangles form an extra design in the quilt. Each block is also separated by sashing strips to increase the eye-catching appeal of this design.
