|BLOCKS by SIZE||9" Quilt Blocks|
There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.
The Forest Campfire nine patch quilt block utilizes several shapes for lots of practice in sewing your patches. Half square triangles and quarter square triangles make up the corner units while flying geese patches fill in the rest.
This striking quilt block makes for some equally stunning quilts. The quilt layout shown on the left places the blocks side by side creating a subtle secondary pattern of pinwheels. The quilt layout on the right sets the blocks on point separated by sashing strips. Blank blocks and setting triangles are arranged to give lots of extra colour to the final quilt.
