BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilt layouts shown below which use the Flying Dutchman quilt block have two very different end results.

The quilt layout illustrated on the left, sets the blocks on point and separates many of them with blank blocks of the same colour as the background fabric, thereby making the blocks appear to "float".

The quilt layout featured on the right uses a standard side by side setting of the blocks for a simple, yet fun look in the final quilt.
