The Flock of Birds quilt block is a simple four patch design featuring only simple patches -- squares and half square triangles.

As you can see from the images shown below, you can achieve two very different quilts using this block. The quilt layout shown on the left uses a standard side by side setting of the blocks, and by using 90 degree rotations of many of the blocks, a secondary pattern emerges. The quilt layout on the right sets the blocks on point and adds that extra pop of colour with the extra blank blocks and setting triangles.
