Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Fanny's Favorite - A Variation

Sample Quilt Layouts

This Fanny's Favorite Variation quilt block is obviously an adaptation of the Fanny's Favorite block. This new block is a continuation of the skills you have learned, by adding additional pieces and hence, more interest to the block. The newest patch is the flying geese unit, but there are lots of easy pieces in the form of squares and rectangles too.

For these two quilts illustrated below, I chose to use an almost monochromatic colour scheme in the blocks and then in the quilt layouts. By laying out the blocks side by side or on point, you achieve two very different quilts. Which will you choose, or will you design a quilt layout of your own?
