BLOCKS by SIZE 10" Quilt Blocks

What could be easier, math-wise, than a quilt block in a 10 inch size? Surprisingly, the 10" block is not the most commonly used size, (that would be the 12" block), but there are still many quilt blocks that fit into this category and here is my list of currently available patterns.

English Rose

Sample Quilt Layouts

The English Rose is a five patch quilt block constructed of only the simplest patches in quiltmaking -- squares and half square triangles. As the block is constructed on point, it offers all sorts of interesting quilt layout options due to its directional nature.

The quilt layout shown on the left uses 90 degree rotations of single blocks, set on point, to produce an interesting, geometric design. Extra blank blocks and setting triangles offer additional shots of colour. The quilt layout on the right uses groupings of four blocks, in various 90 degree rotations to produce an entirely different end product. It is difficult to see, at first glance, that each of these quilts uses the identical blocks!
