Easter Lily
Free Quilt Block Pattern
The Easter Lily quilt block in this original design, is meant to show the beautiful petals and the contrasting pistils and stamens as it opens to show off its bloom.
This five patch block is sewn in groupings of patches -- (I call them "chunks") for ease in sewing the final block. It's much easier to construct the block as an uneven nine patch, rather than row by row (at least in my opinion). Many pieces are stitched using the "sew and flip" technique of triangle construction, rather than the standard half square triangle method usually used.
There are no difficult patches to sew in the making of this flower block, but due to the many pieces in the design, extra care must be taken to sew a precise quarter inch seam allowance so that all parts go together easily. You are up to the challenge!
