BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Dolly Madison Star - Variation

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Dolly Madison Star - Variation quilt block is actually two nine patch blocks in one. The block is based on the Ohio Star quilt block with an additional "checkerboard" as the centre of the block, rather than a plain square.

The sample quilt layouts shown below use common settings of the blocks. You might choose a side by side layout as shown on the left or perhaps set the blocks on point with additional setting squares and sashing strips for an extra pop of colour, as you can see in the quilt layout on the right.
