Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Diamond Star

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Diamond Star quilt block features lots of opportunites to "hone" your piecing skills. Using half square triangles and quarter square triangles as cut pieces, you will construct this star block with flying geese and square in a square patches.

The two sample quilt layouts illustrated below use common settings of the blocks. The side by side straight setting of the blocks is a popular quilt layout to use. The quilt on the right features an on point block setting with sashing strips to separate the blocks and extra blank blocks for a punch of additional colour. And, the border treatment is a little different using a mitred seam at the corners.
