The two quilt layouts shown below use two different settings of the blocks and take advantage of their directional nature.

The quilt layout illustrated on the left sets the blocks on point giving a horizontal and vertical pathway across the quilt, creating a subtle secondary design.

The quilt layout featured on the right uses a standard side by side block setting, which creates a diagonal secondary design.

The additional blank blocks add extra splashes of colour in each of the quilts, and also a spot to show off your quilting design.
