BLOCKS by SIZE 16" Quilt Blocks

Larger quilt blocks offer the incentive that there are less to make to produce your quilt. When time is limited, this size of block is your best friend. A second feature is that you can try a more difficult design as the pieces may be many, but the sizes of the patches are easy to work with. A win-win all around.

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Circling Overhead quilt block is for those quilters who would like a little more of a challenge, now that they have honed their skills in easier quilt blocks.

This quilt block is technically an eight patch as it is designed using an 8 x 8 grid. However, it is constructed as an uneven nine patch because of the different sized "chunks" created from smaller patches.

You will gets lots of practice making flying geese and using half square triangles and quarter square triangle pieces to make the aforementioned "chunks" to proceed with the final block design.

All in all this is an intriguing block to sew and I hope you enjoy making it.
