Both of the sample quilt layouts illustrated with the By the Sea quilt block use on point settings but with very different results. Lots of whole blocks and partial blocks separated by sashing strips, are featured in the quilt shown on the left. The right quilt uses additional blank blocks for more colour emphasis and as a spot to showcase your quilting skills.
