BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Buttercup quilt block is another directional block that opens up interesting design possibilities. By using 90 degree rotations of some of the blocks, a secondary pattern can emerge to create an entirely different design than expected.

The two sample quilt layouts shown below both use those rotations. The quilt that is set with blocks side by side uses the blocks in groupings of four, while the quilt using blocks set on point uses the rotations on individual blocks for an all over effect.
