BLOCKS by SIZE 5" Quilt Blocks

For those quilters wanting a little more of a challenge, five inch quilt blocks might be the answer -- smaller blocks usually means more blocks to make. Another reason for using five inch blocks is to create a secondary pattern. By using 4 blocks and rotating each of them, you get a different larger quilt block. These larger blocks can then be laid out in variety of ways to make some very interesting original designs.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Brighton Beach quilt block offers lots of interesting opportunities to put your "personal stamp" on your own quilt. The two sample quilts shown below give ideas for your future quilt.

The quilt layout on the left uses the blocks in a side by side setting, which results in a subtle seconday pattern of pinwheels. The quilt layout on the right sets the blocks on point and adds additional interest by using sashing strips and blank blocks for extra colour.
