BLOCKS by SIZE 5" Quilt Blocks

For those quilters wanting a little more of a challenge, five inch quilt blocks might be the answer -- smaller blocks usually means more blocks to make. Another reason for using five inch blocks is to create a secondary pattern. By using 4 blocks and rotating each of them, you get a different larger quilt block. These larger blocks can then be laid out in variety of ways to make some very interesting original designs.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Bright Jewel quilt block lends itself to all sorts of colour combinations and leads to some striking quilt layouts as well.

The quilt layout illustrated below on the left sets full and half blocks on point and accompanies those pieced blocks with lots of blank blocks to to feature a stunning quilting design.

The quilt layout featured on the right also uses a diagonal setting of the blocks. The blank blocks add a subtle design element to the final quilt design.
