Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Boxed Squares quilt block is a seven patch design featuring only one pieced patch -- the flying geese unit. Only squares and rectangle shapes round out the group of patches to make this interesting quilt block.

Although the block is technically a seven patch, it is sewn as an uneven nine patch simply for ease in construction -- at least to me -- (since I prefer to work in "chunks" rather than in a row by row sewing method).
