Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Blazing Star sample quilt layouts use standard settings for the blocks. The quilt on the left features setting triangles for each block, and colour placement is key for the effect shown below. The sashing strips between the blocks give the illusion of looking through a window pane (at least to me). The quilt on the right sets the blocks side by side, and this creates a sort of secondary design between the blocks, due to the colour placement of the outer pieces of the each block.
