BLOCKS by SIZE | 9" Quilt Blocks |
There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

The Birds in the Air quilt block is an old favourite. I like it because of the geometry -- being the "math nerd" that I am. And speaking of math -- take note of the directional nature of the block. With 90 degree roations in single or groupings of the blocks, you can design a variety of stunning quilts -- as evidenced on the following page.
This four patch quilt block is made entirely of half square triangles, using two different sizes of those patches. You will be a master of this unit in no time when you make all the patches necessary for your quilt.
