Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Sample Quilt Layouts

Two sample quilt layouts are shown below utilizing the Beacon Lights quilt block, with very different designs.

The quilt layout featured on the left sets the blocks side by side and separates them with sashing strips in a very traditional setting. The tiny "cornerstones" in the sashing strips add a subtle pop of colour to the quilt.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses an on point block setting and features lots of contrast with the bold choice of background colour in the side triangles and blank blocks.

Both quilts are striking examples of putting your imagination to work to create a unique design of your own.
