BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Aunt Vinah's Favorite quilt block will give you lots of practice in making three quarter square triangle patches -- an often underused patch, (at least in my opinion).

The quilt layout shown below on the left uses a standard side by side setting of the blocks and separates them with sashing strips for an extra pop of colour.

The quilt layout featured on the right also uses a standard block setting, but includes half blocks as well in this on point layout of the blocks. This creates a subtle secondary pattern where the blocks are adjacent to each other.
