BLOCKS by SIZE 5" Quilt Blocks

For those quilters wanting a little more of a challenge, five inch quilt blocks might be the answer -- smaller blocks usually means more blocks to make. Another reason for using five inch blocks is to create a secondary pattern. By using 4 blocks and rotating each of them, you get a different larger quilt block. These larger blocks can then be laid out in variety of ways to make some very interesting original designs.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Auld Lang Syne quilt block is a perfect choice for a celebratory quilt. The five patch design offers lots of options when designing the quilt layout that suits you best.

The quilt layout shown below on the left is an on point setting with extra blank blocks and sashing strips to add that extra pop of colour. The quilt layout on the right also uses sashing strips but the end result is a totally different effect. Which is your choice?
