BLOCKS by SIZE | 12" Quilt Blocks |
A quilter's favourite - the twelve inch quilt block. These are probably the most commonly used. The measurements divide easily and evenly for quick calculations. Whether the goal is a bed-sized quilt or a cuddle quilt in an afghan size, a 12" quilt block is your go-to choice.

The Around the Block quilt block looks pretty simple on the surface, but a little extra care must be taken when cutting the pieces. Some of the square patches are a little trickier to cut as their measurements often fall in between the increments on standard rulers.
Tip - When cutting a piece that requires measurements in the 16ths of inches, just set your ruler halfway between the lines marking 8ths of inches.
Having said all that, this quilt block is fun to make since it uses some of the patches not found as frequently, such as the square in the square. This is where you can have some fun.
