|BLOCKS by SIZE||12" Quilt Blocks|
The Flock of Geese quilt block is a simple four patch design featuring only half square triangles. The sample block and quilts shown here are "scrappy" versions, utilizing all sorts of different blues. The only criteria for this is to make sure there is good contrast between the light and dark fabric choices. And -- you don't need to stick with a monochrome design. Try using up all of those scraps of fabrics in a rainbow of colours, making sure to be aware of the contrast in each patch.
The sample quilt layout shown on the left takes advantage of the directional nature of the quilt block. By rotating a number of the blocks by 90 degrees you can create all sorts of interesting designs, and be surprised at the various secondary patterns that emerge as a result.
The quilt layout on the right uses an on point setting of the blocks along with sashing strips to separate them and additional blank blocks for a pop of extra colour.
